Last year our school embarked on a new anti-bullying program. This program gave us a chance to come together as a school community and perform as an orchestra. From the moment that I spoke with Mr. Jim Jordan (president of Report Bullying) I knew that he would be instrumental in making this new program successful. Mr. Jordan gave our team a sense of clamness and help fine tune our vision. His presentation was engaging and educational. This was the first time that I have seen almost 700 middle school students actively involved, listening, and reflecting (all at the same time). Mr. Jordan's presentation left students, staff, and parents with a new sense of pride and accomplishment. It was refreshing to see a program that targets the obstacles that schools face today (one being bullying). His presentation was so successful that we have invited Mr. Jordan back three times and will continue to work with him in the future.
We often hear, "A good orchestra has balance." Our teachers, parents, and community, playing the role of conductor, stepped up to the podium to begin a new song and Jim Jordan helped interpret the music to us. With his guidance, we learned that we must all "Band Togther" if we wish to write music as it was originally intended to be played. We thank Report Bullying and Jim Jordan for that special bond of an orchestra!
